Red face Curious About the Game

HI

I haven't bought the game yet and I am just curious about it. I have another on line game and I am fed up with it and having to pay for horrible treatment of it's customers. I hope you will all be kind enough to answer my questions. How hard is it? How long are the servers down for and how often? Does the game lag alot? Is it truly free play? Can you play solo or do you have to play in groups alot? What are the players like and there age? Because it is free are u overloaded with pop up adds? Is it a relaxing game or a stressful game like others?

Please Help
Ariel

How hard is it?
Easy

They are very rarely down. I've never not been able to log on.

Does the game lag alot?
No lag for me.

Is it truly free play?
Free after you purchase the game.

You can use computer controlled players to get you through the entire game if you'd like. You don't have to party with others.

Probably the same with any online game. There are your share of jerks, kids, adults, nice people, and everyone inbetween.

There are no advertisements.

Depends on your playing style and if you get involved with annoying players.

I agree with above poster mostly.

It's not necessarily easy. Some PvE parts are very difficult and require great planning and teamwork(Computer controlled henchmen are decent at teamwork but lack special circumstances organization). The PvP portion can also be challenging.

Lag is not bad at all. Once a week or so it gets errored out and you can't log on for under 5 minutes.

I don't get choppiness, and I connect across the Pacific Ocean using a 56k modem. Sure, there's lag, but when you can buffer skills so the server knows what you're going to do 'next', there's no real problem (as long as I don't try to use interrupts heh)

just to clear up what you thought as "free play"... you'd have to purchase the game (priced like most other games, US$49 when it was first released). After purchasing, it's unlimited access to the servers.

well, in terms of game play it's relatively easy. there are some tough quests and missions but they're all beatable.

It is a beautiful game. The most challenging parts would be PvP and playing PvE with real people (In my opinion). Team work is big in this game, however you can still play with henchmen. It is great fun and a good buy. I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience as I have.

It can be challenging at times, but once you see the 'trick' never very hard.

Very rarely if at all. After 300 hours I think I've encountered a server crash once, and I could log on again instantly.

Not at the moment, but a couple of weeks ago it was quite bad here on the european servers. It seems to depend on player load.

Yes.
Quote:
Can you play solo
Yes. All classes and combinations of classes are soloable, but you'll have the easiest time soloing if you make sure you're part monk.

Very varied. There's some real jerks, but most are sensible. Age is unknown to me.

There's no commercials at all. It is completely financed by the sale of the game itself.

Well, I don't find it stressful, but if you party with a bunch of jerks it can probably be. I simply shrug off the occasional jerks so to me it is just pretty & fun.

It's a real good game.

Oh, and ANet's treatment of customers is usually quite good. They even have people on the forums here reading your threads. Suggestions from fansites definately make their way into the game.

Oh, and just a warning...find a good guild
